Allergen-first scanner

Catch every allergen. Down to a T.

What’s actually in your food?

Three risk tiers. Per-allergen clinical severity. Cross-reactivity awareness. Proactive FDA recall alerts. The most clinically-aware allergen scanner on iOS — because your allergies aren’t equal, and a flat yes/no isn’t enough.

Snap a barcode. Get a verdict that fits YOU — not the average shopper.

“Contains peanuts” isn’t the same as “may contain peanuts” isn’t the same as “made in a facility that processes peanuts.” SYE keeps them separate so you decide.

The clinical-grade differentiators.

Six features that no other food scanner ships. Together they make SYE the most clinically-aware allergen scanner on the App Store.

Three risk tiers — not one

Contains (red), May contain (orange), Facility-level (yellow). Other scanners flatten these into one flag, or miss “may contain” entirely. SYE separates them so you decide per product, per allergen, what risk you accept.

Per-allergen clinical severity

Anaphylactic to peanuts? Blocked at all 3 tiers, including facility-level. Lactose intolerant? Blocked on ingredients, warned on “may contain.” This is how a doctor thinks about your allergies. Now your scanner does too.

Cross-reactivity awareness (OAS)

25–40% of pollen-allergic adults have Oral Allergy Syndrome. Birch pollen allergy can mean reactions to raw apples, hazelnuts, peaches — but cooked versions are usually safe. SYE encodes the AAAAI / EAACI cross-reactivity tables. No competitor does.

Proactive FDA + CFIA recall alerts

Every day, SYE pulls the latest food recalls from openFDA and CFIA, matches them on your device against products you scanned in the last 30 days, and notifies you immediately. Yuka shows recalls only when you re-scan. SYE pushes them to you.

NEW in v3.0

Reaction log with pattern detection

Track reactions over time. SYE intersects ingredients across reaction-tagged scans and surfaces non-obvious patterns: “3 of your last 4 reactions involved sodium caseinate but not whey.” Discovering a hidden sensitivity normally takes years and a specialist.

Deterministic detection

Allergen detection on barcode scans is 100% deterministic — your label data is matched on-device against a bundled dictionary. No AI hallucination on the safety-critical path.

On-device recall match

FDA + CFIA recall daemon runs daily. Matching happens on your phone against the last 30 days of scans. Your scan history never leaves your device.

No accounts, no tracking

No email, no password, no analytics that follow you. Reaction logs are device-local. Pattern detection runs locally; no health data uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is SYE free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 3 personalized scans per day with full allergen detection and the three-tier risk model. Premium ($2.99/month) removes the daily cap and unlocks Aisle Scan, Quick Compare, and Image Allergen Detection.

How are the three risk tiers different?

“Contains” means the allergen is in the ingredients list (red). “May contain” covers declared traces from cross-contact (orange). “Facility-level” means the product is made where the allergen is processed (yellow). Most other apps flatten these into one flag — SYE keeps them separate.

What does per-allergen severity actually do?

You tag each allergen as Anaphylaxis, Intolerance, or Sensitivity. SYE adjusts what gets blocked: anaphylactic to peanuts blocks all 3 tiers, intolerant to lactose blocks ingredients and warns on traces, sensitive to nightshades only warns on ingredients.

Is allergen detection reliable for severe allergies?

On barcode scans, allergen detection is 100% deterministic — we match your label data on-device against a bundled dictionary. No AI guessing. For restaurant menus and image scans, AI is used with explicit precision disclaimers because cross-contamination from kitchen equipment can’t be seen on a label.

What is OAS cross-reactivity?

Oral Allergy Syndrome — if you’re allergic to birch pollen you may also react to raw apples, hazelnuts, peaches, and dozens of other foods. Cooked versions are usually safe. SYE encodes the AAAAI / EAACI cross-reactivity tables and surfaces them as a yellow informational banner.

How do FDA recall alerts work?

Every day SYE pulls the latest food recalls from openFDA and CFIA. We match them against your last 30 days of scans on your phone (your scan history never leaves the device) and push a notification immediately when there’s a match.

Can I share my profile with family or babysitters?

Yes. The Share Allergen Card feature lets you generate a read-only profile (allergens + severity + EpiPen status) that a family member or babysitter can scan products against without seeing your full account.

Is my reaction data uploaded anywhere?

No. The reaction log lives on your device and in your private iCloud. Pattern detection runs locally. No health data is uploaded to our servers or to a third party.

Does it work on Android?

iOS only as of 2026. Android is on the roadmap with no firm date.

How do I cancel Premium?

Cancel anytime through your App Store subscription settings. No questions asked.
