Privacy Policy
Should You Eat It? ("SYE", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we do and don't collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Short version
The website you're reading collects no personal data. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels. The iOS app collects only what's needed to provide personalized scoring, stores it on your device, and never links it to your identity.
2. The website (shouldyoueatit.app)
Our website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not use cookies, do not run analytics scripts, and do not embed third-party trackers. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, referer) are kept by Cloudflare for security and availability purposes only and are not personally identified.
3. The iOS app (SYE)
3.1 What stays on your device
- Your dietary profile (age, sex, height, weight, diet preferences, allergens, conditions)
- Your scan history
- Your shopping cart, watchlist, and grocery list
- Your level, points, and streak data
This data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData and synced via your private iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled. We never receive or store this data.
3.2 What is sent to our servers
When you scan a product or menu, the relevant ingredient list and your current dietary profile are sent to our Cloud Functions (hosted on Google Firebase, region us-central1) for AI analysis via Google Gemini. The data is processed in memory and is not stored. We do not log scan content or dietary profiles. The AI consent dialog is shown before the first scan request.
3.3 What we don't do
- We do not require an account, email, or password.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads or share data with advertisers.
- We do not link any of your data to your Apple ID, IP address, or device identifier.
4. Subscription data
SYE Pro is billed by Apple via the App Store. Apple handles all payment information per their own privacy policy. We receive only an anonymized purchase token via RevenueCat to verify entitlement.
5. Children's privacy
SYE is rated 4+ on the App Store but is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because SYE does not collect personal data tied to your identity on our servers, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) apply automatically: your data lives on your device and you control it directly. To delete all SYE data, simply uninstall the app.
If you have used iCloud sync, you can delete the app's iCloud data from your iPhone: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → SYE → Delete Data.
7. Contact

8. Changes
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Significant changes will be flagged in the app's release notes.
